Skopje, 22 December 2024 (MIA) - The Sanitary Control sector at Skopje’s “Water Supply and Sewerage” Public Enterprise said the tap water in Skopje is sanitary and the citizens can consume it, after it carried out analyses of the city’s water supply network following repairs that disrupted water supply in the capital on Saturday.
The enterprise said samples from nine key locations in the city were analyzed.
“We would like to notify the public that all samples meet the physical, chemical and microbiological criteria from the Rulebook on requirements for the safety and quality of drinking water. As a result, we conclude that the water from Skopje’s water supply network is sanitary and can be used by the citizens without any issues,” the “Water Supply and Sewerage” PE said in a press release.
Repair works were carried out on Skopje’s main water pipeline on Saturday involving more than 160 employees from the enterprise, as well as 150 administrative staff.
The Mayor of Skopje, Danela Arsovska, after the conclusion of the operation described it as a “modernization” of Skopje’s water supply system that is being done for the first time after 50-60 years.
The operation left most of Skopje without water on Saturday.
