PM expects banks to start transferring Hungarian loan funds to businesses in January
- The funds from the Hungarian loan have been secured, the process is in the final stage and we will be able to do this in January, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Sunday asked when companies will be able to apply for the funds from the Hungarian loan.
Skopje, 22 December 2024 (MIA) - The funds from the Hungarian loan have been secured, the process is in the final stage and we will be able to do this in January, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Sunday asked when companies will be able to apply for the funds from the Hungarian loan.
Mickoski stressed he expects the banks to begin actively transferring funds to businesses after the holidays.
“Regarding the capacities and whether the funds will be fully used, I don’t know. I would like to see a lot of business ideas, but that is up to the entrepreneurs and the business community, it isn't up to the Government. We are here to assist and be their partner and to support their work,” Mickoski said.
Asked whether potential leftover funds from the loan could be reallocated to Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM), since they are taking loans with higher interest rates, Mickoski said the loans taken out “have a different goal and purpose”.
“As a Government, we aim to consolidate all of that and repay it ahead of time, so that we avoid larger transfers for higher interest rates. I think that in 2026, based on the plan we drafted with the ESM leadership, we will be able to talk about a company which will go from being EUR 200 million in the red to a positive zero,” Mickoski said.
