Mickoski: Wouldn’t speculate whether Grubi is in Albania or Kosovo, it’s a fact he’s not innocent

Skopje, 22 December 2024 (MIA) - I wouldn’t like to speculate about whether former Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi is in Albania or Kosovo, but it is a fact that he isn't innocent. If he was innocent, he wouldn’t have felt a need to run from justice, he would have stayed here to defend his innocence, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told journalists Sunday in Gevgelija.

The PM said the former ruling coalition made up of SDSM and DUI was “a protector of not only political criminals, but real criminals as well”.

“The messages they are sending to the public in relation to Grubi’s escape aren’t messages aimed at a decisive fight against crime and corruption. We’ve spoken about this on many occasions in the past. This coalition was really a great protector of not only political criminals, but real criminals as well,” Mickoski said.

The PM said the Interior Ministry is working to break up “a criminal group” in Skopje, which he said remained “untouchable” for the institutions for years.

“We are witnessing a robust action by the Interior Ministry, the Public Security Bureau and the Skopje police aimed at breaking up a criminal group in Skopje, which was untouchable for these institutions for years. But what these institutions have done is exceptionally important, since only two days ago they found around 200 grams of explosives which are enough to blow up any larger building of the Government, Parliament,” Mickoski said.

He said the Government would continue to fight criminal structures and seek responsibility from political criminals.

“The citizens can feel safe with this Government. We are continuing our decisive fight against this type of criminal structures, but also seeking responsibility from the political criminals that devastated Macedonia over the past seven years. I urge the citizens to be calm and know that this Government is looking after everything that it needs to guarantee their safety,” Mickoski said.
