Kosovo PM Kurti highlights benefits of signed bilateral documents

Skopje, 18 November 2024 (MIA) - North Macedonia and Kosovo have committed themselves to developing projects on sustainable energy and energy efficiency, and enhancing cooperation between experts of countries' energy companies. Coal supply will be in the focus, towards ensuring lower prices for citizens and a sustainable energy system, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti told a joint press conference with North Macedonia's counterpart Hristijan Mickoski after a joint government session in Pristina on Monday.

Regarding trade exchange, PM Kurti said flow of people is to be facilitated and waiting times to be cut through the joint border crossings Blace - Elez Han and Jazhince - Glloboçicë.

On education, he said Kosovo is an excellent model in dual education in secondary schools, which provides a direct link between employers and students.

"The cooperation memorandum focuses on vocational education, which is identified as a key aspect by the EU for the period 2023-2030. Kosovo and Macedonia take part in many initiatives in the sector as partners in strengthening vocational education, which is closely linked to the labor market needs," said Kurti.

The Kosovo PM expressed optimism that bilateral trade exchange would reach EUR 500 million.

"Kosovo exports mainly includes light industry, beverages, food, textile, leather, wood and metal processing, IT. We import various commodities from North Macedonia and I am certain we will reach the half billion," underlined Kurti.
