Los Angeles, 4 November 2024 (dpa/MIA) - US music legend Quincy Jones died on Sunday aged 91, his spokesman Arnold Robinson has announced.

The producer and composer died at his home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, surrounded by his family.

"Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones' passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him," said a comment from the family shared with dpa.

Jones is considered one of the most significant producers in the music industry. He collaborated with stars including Michael Jackson, George Benson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.

Born in 1933 in Chicago, Jones also ran a record label, composed film scores, wrote books, produced feature films and co-developed TV series.

However, he achieved particular prominence for producing one of the most famous albums in pop history: Michael Jackson's "Thriller," released in 1982.
