Immigrations to North Macedonia at 3.176, emigrations at 2.377 in 2023: statistics 

Skopje, 31 December 2024 (MIA) - A total of 3.176 people immigrated to North Macedonia in 2023, 2.654 of which are foreigners. On the other hand, 2.377 people moved out of the country, of which 2.034 are Macedonian nationals, according to the 2024 Statistical Yearbook of the Republic of North Macedonia published by the State Statistical Office.

Most of the foreigners who immigrated to the country are from Europe – 2.527, of which 2.049 are from Turkey.

The country recorded a positive net migration with Europe in 2023. A total of 2.953 people moved to North Macedonia from European countries, while 2.127 people moved out of the country. Most of the immigrants come from Turkey – 2.083, followed by Kosovo – 177, Serbia – 121, and Gerrmany – 99.

Most of the emigrations to Europe are to Germany – 749, Turkey – 284, Switzerland – 237, Italy – 136, and Slovenia – 124.

According to the State Statistical Office, the largest part of the data in the Yearbook are gathered by regular statistical surveys, researches and censuses conducted by the State Statistical Office (MAKSTAT); data prepared by other bodies and institutions involved in the statistical system of the Republic of North Macedonia are also included.
