Skopje, 3 January 2025 (MIA) - Police have recovered the body of the fourth victim in the car crash at Rashche, where an Audi with five occupants swerved off of a local road and plunged into the Vardar River on Thursday afternoon, the Ministry of Interior said.

The body of the fourth victim was retrieved from the Vardar River near the crash site at around 3 pm on Friday.

Upon order of a public prosecutor, the body will be handed over to forensic experts for identification.

"After another body of a deceased man was retrieved from the Vardar River - a passenger in the car that crashed yesterday near Rashche, the public prosecutor issued an order for an autopsy on the fourth victim of the serious accident. Work is underway to determine the causes of the accident," said the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Members of the army's special unit “The Wolves” also participated in the search for the fourth victim in the accident.

The Public Prosecutor's Office said earlier on Friday that special police retrieved the vehicle and the bodies of three women trapped in the sinking car from the Vardar River after the crash. An autopsy order was issued for the car crash victims, and a search for another person was under way.

Shortly after the crash, an injured child was taken to hospital after being found by passersby. The child was brought to the Skopje Clinical Center and is said to be in stable condition.
