Skopje, 23 November 2024 (MIA) – St. Clement of Ohrid National and University Library held Saturday a ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of its opening.
Addressing the event, President Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova called the national library “an ocean of spiritual food, a source of knowledge, cosmos of ideas, a volcano of new findings.”
“Eight decades of learning, struggle and persistence in the mission – to safeguard the Macedonian identity, culture and collective memory. Since 1944, when the liberation of the homeland was crowned, leading to today’s digital era, the library has been crossing the frontiers of space and time,” she said.
By digitizing its treasure, said Siljanovska – Davkova, this institution has stepped into a new era.
“Immortalized in digitized artifacts, Macedonian culture today is available everywhere, taking our history, music and science around the world,” the President stated.
So far, the National and University Library has been awarded the Order of Merits, 11 October recognition and the St. Clement of Ohrid Charter of Culture.
