MoI Toshkovski meets Serbian PM Vučević, discuss bilateral relations

Belgrade, 26 July 2024 (MIA) - Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević met Friday with Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski, discussing bilateral relations, cooperation in the field of security, Open Balkan and the Srebrenica resolution, MIA reports from Belgrade.

PM Vučević said bilateral relations are based on traditionally friendly relations and goodneighborly ties, adding that Serbia is committed to fostering a partnership with North Macedonia, supporting European integration and regional cooperation, the Serbian PM's Office said in a press release.

Vučević underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of security, fight against terrorism and illegal migration, as well as partnership in emergencies, while adding that the Open Balkan agreement on using IDs for border crossings is an example of good practice in the interest of both countries.

In regional terms, the PM expressed his disagreement from North Macedonia's decision to co-sponsor the Srebrenica Resolution in the United Nations, adding such a decision does not contribute to peace and stability in the region.

Minister Toshkovski thanked Serbia for its support in the extinguishing of the recent wildfires by sending a helicopter unit to North Macedonia.

Toshkovski said North Macedonia is prepared to launch a project on exchange of police officers, primarily in tourism destinations, as well as in setting up a joint border web-portal between the two countries.
