Skopje, 12 September 2026 (MIA) - Latest statistical data on the number of tourists have shown growth, which is an indicator for a strong third quarter, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Saturday.

"In July, the number of stays and nights spent has increased by 6.6 percent compared to the same month in 2025. This is a second indicator, after the one on industrial production, which points to a possible strong third quarter regarding GDP growth," PM Mickoski told reporters.

According to him, such data demonstrates that the Government's policies produce results.

"About 740,000 tourists have come to the country in the first seven months and we expect that number to exceed a million by the end of the year, which would be an absolute record. There are about 1.7 million nights spent and I expect this number to exceed three million by the end of 2026. If we reach these numbers, then the target will be achieved," said Mickoski.
