Nikoloski calls for solution to transporters issue, enabling free flow of goods without delays

Skopje, 16 September 2026 (MIA) - Ahead of Wednesday's business forum at the Economic Chamber, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski called for a solution to the transporters issue and enabling free flow of goods without any delays or obstacles.

He also pointed to unfair competition in infrastructure bidding within the EU. He noted that the largest deals are awarded to companies from China and India rather than European firms. Nikoloski believes that taxpayers' money should not flow out but circulate through the economy within the Union.

"I believe we are discussing an absurdity. In the 21st century, having recognized liberalizations and a country that is an EU membership candidate and has already begun negotiations, we are debating whether a Macedonian transporter, upon getting into their truck, has to count the days, hours and minutes. If we face unfair competition, on the one hand, while lacking the free flow of goods and commodities, then there is no point in discussing anything at all. On the other hand, if we resolve these two issues, the opportunities are immense," said Nikoloski.
