Skopje prosecution: Documents taken seeking accountability of judges involved in "Target-Fortress" case

Skopje, 13 December 2024 (MIA) – Investigating the case opened after two people were designated by the U.S. Department of State, the Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office says Friday actions have been taken, including an investigator requesting and taking documents regarding proceedings to determine accountability of judges working on the so-called “Target-Fortress” case.
Other actions are also being taken to fully investigate the case, says the Skopje Prosecutor’s Office.
On Wednesday, Chief State Public Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski announced a case was opened to secure evidence over possible criminal liability of people designated by the U.S. Department of State.
“Given the gravity of the allegations due to which people were designated, I used my powers to open a case yesterday in order to try and secure evidence to look into any possible criminal liability of the people alleged of receiving bribes and trading in influence,” Kocevski told a press briefing.
On Monday, the U.S. Department of State designated former deputy prime minister of North Macedonia, Artan Grubi, and Enver Bexheti, Court of Appeals judge, for their involvement in significant corruption.
On Thursday, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said police entered the Judicial Council by a prosecutor’s order to secure minutes probing suspicions of a possible crime at the Judicial Council related to the mandate of its former president, Vesna Dameva, who resigned on December 2.
