Prosecutors launch probe against P. B. and A. A. in State Lottery case

Skopje, 26 December 2024 (MIA) — The Skopje Primary Public Prosecutor's Office, acting on a criminal complaint from the Financial Police Directorate, has launched an investigation into alleged abuse of office by former State Lottery general director P. B. and into alleged abuse of a public call procedure by A. A., a business owner, and his company, Ritron Copy of Kumanovo.

 

According to the PPO's press release, the crimes were related to a procurement of used television sets, printers as well as computer and communication equipment for the needs of the State Lottery.

 

The prime suspect, P. B., had allegedly approved payments on false invoices, committing the crime abuse of office under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, between 2022 and 2024.

 

The second suspect, A. A., and his business company have been charged with abuse of a public call procedure under Article 275-c of the Criminal Code.

 

According to the PPO, the invoices were issued despite the equipment not being delivered to the State Lottery under the provisions of the public procurement contracts.

 

The scope of the investigation includes six public procurements, the release said.

 

The PPO has also filed a motion in Skopje Criminal Court demanding A. A.'s travel documents be seized and for him to appear in court when summoned.

 

The prime suspect, P. B., is on the run. mr/
