Gashi - Erdogan: Enhancement of North Macedonia-Türkiye cooperation

Skopje, 2 October 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Wednesday with Turkish President Reccep Tayyip Erdogan, exchanging opinions on the excellent bilateral cooperation, developments in both countries, the region and beyond.
Speaker Gashi and several MPs are paying October 2-5 an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, on the invitation of Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, the Parliament said in a press release.
Speaker Gashi also met with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, noting that his recent visit to North Macedonia and the return visit to Türkiye reaffirm the high level of bilateral relations between the two friendly states and NATO allies.
Gashi said North Macedonia highly values cooperation with the Republic of Türkiye in all sectors and expressed gratitude for its principled support to Skopje’s NATO membership.
Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s unconditional support to North Macedonia in all fields, while referring to the need of intensifying cooperation in economy and increasing trade exchange.
Interlocutors also highlighted the significance of interparliamentary cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy in bilateral and multilateral relations.
In addition, the Parliament delegation met with Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, which focuses on strategic planning of university education, coordination among universities and setting up mechanisms to provide quality higher education.
Discussions also tackled possibilities for enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education, reads the press release.
