Bundestag donates security scanners to Parliament
- Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi and Parliament Secretary General Marina Dimovska met Thursday the ambassadors of Germany and Switzerland, Petra Drexler and Véronique Hulmann respectively, Germany’s Bundestag experts and NDI officials for the handover of security scanners, a donation from the Bundestag for the national assembly.
Skopje, 21 November 2024 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi and Parliament Secretary General Marina Dimovska met Thursday the ambassadors of Germany and Switzerland, Petra Drexler and Véronique Hulmann respectively, Germany’s Bundestag experts and NDI officials for the handover of security scanners, a donation from the Bundestag for the national assembly.
Gashi thanked, on behalf of all deputies and citizens, Germany, Switzerland and NDI for the donation of security scanners to increase the level of security, transparency and accessibility to the legislative house, its credibility and dignity, said the Parliament.
“After this donation and training, we’ll focus more on the security issue,” said Gashi.
German Ambassador Drexler called it an important moment to “intensify the long-term, continuing and intensive cooperation between parliaments, the heart of democracy.”
Praising the cooperation and engagement to boost Parliament’s security, Swiss Ambassador Hulmann called it “a good start to meeting the goal – independent security service of Parliament.”
Secretary General Dimovska thanked all strategic partners in the process, the unwavering support of the services in the two parliaments, the Swiss Embassy and NDI for their work in Parliament.
“Attendees concluded that the joint cooperation will resume so as to improve the legislative house,” said the press release.
