Skopje, 11 May 2024 (MIA) - The newly elected President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, will officially begin her five-year term on Sunday with a solemn address at her inauguration in Parliament.
The inaugural session was scheduled after the State Election Commission (SEC) presented the final results of the presidential elections held on April 24 and May 8, and notified the country’s Parliament on Saturday.
On Saturday, SEC President Aleksandar Dashtevski presented SIljanovska-Davkova with a Certificate of Election for the post of President of the Republic of North Macedonia and wished her a successful term.
“The Certificate always precedes the declaration that will happen tomorrow in Parliament for the election of the country’s president. The formal crown or finale of the elections,” Siljanovska-Davkova told MIA in a statement after receiving the Certificate.
On Sunday, she will address the MPs of the outgoing parliamentary composition, after which her five-year presidential term will begin. She will take over the post from incumbent president Stevo Pendarovski, who was her opponent at the elections and whose term ends on Sunday.
University Professor Gordana SIljanovska-Davkova will be the sixth president of North Macedonia and the first woman to hold the title.
