Pustec, 5 January 2026 (MIA) — As part of the project "The Macedonian Community in Pustec: Our Heritage from One Generation to the Next," a photography exhibition inspired by the inhabitants of Prespa and their culture opened Sunday in Pustec, MIA's Tirana correspondent reports.
Taken by art photographer Roland Beqiraj, the photos come together into "a visual mosaic, where artistic sensitivity is intertwined with a realistic approach and tones in order to show the spirit of Prespa and its inhabitants," organizers said.
Through Beqiraj's lens, the 30 works on display offer a peek into the everyday lives of members of the Macedonian community in Pustec.
According to Municipality of Pustec representatives, the art show features "portraits shaped by time, beauties untouched by modernization, landscapes of majestic and unique beauty, elements of tradition and cultural identity as well as the deep roots of this historical heritage, amazing in every detail."
The show conveys strong experiences by telling a comprehenisive, lived, authentic story, which "reveals this region's inhabitants' unbreakable connection to their unique cultural and historical identity," they said.
In a statement given to MIA's correspondent, Pustec Mayor Pali Kolefski highly praised Beqiraj's dedication to masterfully revealing, through the art of photography, Prespa's natural treasures as well as the culture and spirit of the local Macedonian community members, proud to display their ethnic and cultural identity.
