Skopje, 1 October 2024 (MIA) -- As of Oct. 1, pensioners in North Macedonia will get flat rate pension raises of Mden 2,500, in line with the changes to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, according to social policy authorities.

The flat rate pension raises apply to nearly 340,000 persons who retired through Aug. 31 and qualify for a state pension, the Ministry of Social Policy, Demographics and Youth said in a press release.

Aimed at improving the living standard of pensioners nationwide, the amendments to the law foresee Mden 2,500 pension raises each March and September.

The flat rate pension raises are in line with the election promises of the current government, which is focused on improving the citizens' economic status and the country's economy, the release says. mr/
