Skopje, 23 August 2024 (MIA) - Lazo Uzunchev, a mechanical engineer with a longstanding experience in managerial posts in the private sector, has been named as new director general of Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) by the company’s supervisory board upon the Government’s recommendation, the Government said in a press release Friday.

The supervisory board also appointed new members to the company’s management board, to be headed by Uzunchev.

“With the appointment of new members of the management board, the priority is the country’s energy stability through efficient management, financial consolidation and strengthening of the company’s capacities on all levels. Additionally, the goals of the new leadership include cost optimization, realization of development projects that would make ESM a competitive company that will meet the electricity needs of the end users, while professionally adapting to the market conditions and the strict demands for a clean environment,” the Government said.
