Skopje, 5 January 2026 (MIA) - The e-invoice system, which pilot-stage has been launched, will ensure more efficient collection of taxes and fight against informal economy, said Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska Kochoska on Monday.

Minister Dimitrieska Kochoska told a press conference this is an important reform that would ensure more transparency, fairness and stability of the Macedonian economy.

The FinMin noted that new e-system would replace the traditional processes related to the excessive use of paper and hardcopies.

"We are reducing the administrative burden and simplifying the operations of companies. Digitalization and reducing red tape will give companies the room to focus their resources on key aspects of their development and growth, The e-invoice will make the economy more fair, more transparent and more open for investments, while raising competitiveness at a higher level. In this way, we are ensuring fair working conditions and a foundation for sustainable economic growth, which directly contributes to the improvement of the citizens' standard of life. On the other hand, the e-invoice will ensure more efficient collection of taxes, based on accurate and real data, as well as more streamlined fight against informal economy," said Dimitrieska Kochoska.

Public Revenue Office (PRO) Director Elena Petrova said the API interface od sending and receiving e-invoices will be tested in the coming period.

"The technical documents on the API interface are already available so that businesses can start to adapt their software and begin the technical integration. All stakeholders - businesses and software companies - can start to test a real data exchange with the e-invoice system in a controlled environment, which is an essential step ahead of the system's full application," said Petrova.

Besides the public call, PRO support teams will provide assistance to all companies that are to be included in this stage of the system's implementation.
