All 43 people who received treatment after Chair residential fire in stable condition

Skopje, 2 October 2024 (MIA) - 43 people were hospitalized Wednesday after a fire broke out in a residential building in Skopje’s Chair Municipality this morning. 31 patients requested treatment at the University Clinic for Toxicology, five of which were hospitalized, while the University Clinic for Pediatric Diseases treated 12 children, two of which were hospitalized. All patients are in a stable condition.

“From 3:30 am and up until 2 pm, 31 patients requested treatment at our clinic, five of them have been hospitalized. They received the appropriate medication, and they are all in a stable condition,” Chibishev said.

The head of the Clinic for Pediatric Diseases, Rexhep Memedi, said the Clinic provided treatment to 12 children aged from 5 months up to 11 years.

“They were relatively stable. We treated 4-5 of them with oxygen therapy. They are being monitored and analyses were carried out, they were all stable. Ten of the twelve children were discharged at the request of the parents, despite our recommendations that they stay. Only two are still hospitalized,” Memedi said.

As previously reported by the Interior Ministry and the Crisis Management Center (CMC), a police officer and a firefighter were among those who received medical treatment.

The Interior Ministry said Wednesday that at 1:55 am, the Skopje Police Department received a call that a fire broke out in a basement of a residential building on Serava Street in Skopje. The CMC informed that seven vehicles and 20 firefighters were engaged in the battle against the blazes.
