Skopje, 22 March 2026 (MIA) - The National Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of North Macedonia, as an equal partner of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in tackling global climate change and extreme weather phenomena, is joining international activities to mark March 22 - World Water Day under the theme "Water and Gender: Where Water Flows, Equality Grows".
According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, the aim is to highlight the critical relationship between water, women, and gender equality, i.e. the fact that the global water crisis affects everyone – but not equally, as women and girls often bear the brunt.

"It stresses the need for women and girls to have an equal role in water resource management, as well as in leadership and decision-making," said the National Hydrometeorological Service.
World Water Day is observed annually in over 190 member countries of the World Meteorological Organization.
