Bitola, 3 February 2026 (MIA) — Chinese opera singers will perform at the "Cultural China: Splendid Sichuan" gala evening at Bitola's National Theater at 7:30 pm, MIA's Bitola correspondent reports.

The event will celebrate Chinese culture by presenting folk music, dance, martial arts, acrobatics as well as the ancient Chinese dramatic art of "face-changing" or bian lian (变脸).

Bian lian is the unique and highly secretive dramatic art from Sichuan opera where performers depict their character's different emotional states through changing vividly painted masks faster than the eye can detect.

According to MIA's correspondent, organizers announced a visual feast captivating the eyes, ears and emotions.

Performers include touring artists from China's Sichuan Opera House, Chengdu University and Jingju Theater Company of Beijing.

The gala evening is part of "Cultural China: Splendid Sichuan" European tour of cultural friendship. mr/
