Aggeler: Any reform in judiciary to be looked at carefully, U.S. supports EU's roadmap

Shtip, 29 July 2024 (MIA) - Any types of reform including with the Judicial Council or frankly any other parts of the judiciary are things that should be looked at carefully, and decisions should be made thoughtfully, U.S. Ambassador Angela Aggeler told media Monday when quizzed about the implementation of reforms in the judiciary.

The Ambassador stressed that there is a roadmap that the EU has laid out for reforms in the sector and the United States Embassy is supportive of that process. “Are reforms needed within the judiciary? Absolutely,” she said.

Asked about a possible expansion of the U.S. “blacklist” with new individuals, the Ambassador noted that this is a continuous process and she cannot say when it would happen.

“That ‘list’, if you will, is a very dynamic and organic creature. There are plenty of names to choose from and submit for consideration in Washington and I can assure you that there is review of a number of cases actively being pursued in Washington as well as additional information being gathered here, so that is a continuous process,” Aggeler said.
