Radev: Sofia expects expressed desire for dialogue and understanding to become consistent policy of Gov’t in Skopje
- Bulgaria expects the expressed desire for dialogue and understanding by President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova to become a consistent policy of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, this, according to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev’s Office is the position he conveyed to Siljanovska-Davkova at Friday’s meeting in Sofia.
Sofia, 13 September 2024 (MIA) - Bulgaria expects the expressed desire for dialogue and understanding by President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova to become a consistent policy of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, this, according to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev’s Office is the position he conveyed to Siljanovska-Davkova at Friday’s meeting in Sofia.
“At the meeting, President Radev noted that dialogue at the highest level between the two countries should be active and stimulate the work of the governments, businesses, as well as bilateral exchange in the fields of education, science and culture,” Radev’s Office said in a press release.
The Bulgarian President’s Office added that Bulgaria has always been open for dialogue with North Macedonia and expects that it will not only aid the bilateral cultural rapprochement and economic cooperation, but also lead to a solution for the open issues in the relations. President Radev stressed that decisions on the open issues must be made on the basis of the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation, the signed protocols and the conclusions made by the European Council in 2022.
The Bulgarian President also urged more active efforts by Bulgaria and North Macedonia over the construction of transport corridor VIII.
