Matica celebrates 35 years of existence by promoting Macedonian writers

Skopje, 4 February 2026 (MIA) — Matica makedonska — the first private publishing house founded after the country's independence and the publisher of esteemed Macedonian authors like Blazhe Koneski, Gane Todorovski, Mateja Matevski, Velko Nedelkovski and Stojan Tarapuza — is celebrating its 35th anniversary by holding a book fair.
According to organizers, their Book in Every Home fair, now in its 25th year, will be held at the Matica bookstore and online. The fair will offer discounts on books by Macedonian authors to promote Macedonian literature and culture.
"To have a book in every home was part of Rade Siljan's vision when he founded the publishing house 35 years ago, guided by the thought that a book is not just an object, but the guardian of the soul of a nation," organizers said.
Over the years, the publishing house has also released books by Slavko Janevski, Kiril Penushliski, Tashko Georgievski, Radovan Pavlovski, Petar T. Boshkovski, Miodrag Drugovac, Milan Gjurchinov, Jovan Strezovski, Dimitar Kornakov, Cvetan Grozdanov, Tanas Vrazhinovski, Blazhe Ristovski, Jovan Pavlovski, Nikola Kljusev, Vasko Tashkovski, Bozhin Pavlovski, Paskal Gilevski, Vladimir Kostov, Blazhe Minevski, Ivan Chapovski, Eftim Kletnikov, Vele Smilevski, Dragi Mihajlovski, Dragan Dautovski, Dimitar Pandev, Vesna Mojsova Chepishevska, Ivan Antonovski, Pavle Kuzmanovski, Stojko Stojkov, Vitomir Mitevski, Stefan Vlahov Micov, Kristina Nikolovska and many others, they noted. mr/
