Major oil refinery in Kuwait hit by drones

Cairo, 3 April 2026 (dpa/MIA) - Drones struck the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery in Kuwait early on Friday.

A statement by the state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC) on X said fires broke out in "several operational units" after a "malicious drone attack."

Emergency services were on the scene to extinguish the fires, with no reports of casualties.

The KPC has announced a closure of the refinery, which was temporarily shut down two weeks ago after being targeted by attacks.

The facility is one of the most important oil refineries in the country and in the entire Gulf region.

More than one month after the start of the US-Israeli attacks against Iran, Tehran continues to attack its neighbouring Gulf states, which host US military bases, with missiles and drones.
