Skopje, 23 February 2023 (MIA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has advised Macedonian nationals to leave Mexico due to serious security concerns in the country.

The Ministry also recommends that all non-essential travel to Mexico is postponed.

Mexico has seen a wave of violent clashes after a military operation that led to the death of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho". The killing of the powerful drug lord triggered several hours of roadblocks with burning vehicles in Jalisco and other states. Such tactics are commonly used by the cartels to block military operations.
