President Pendarovski concludes Greece visit by visiting Benaki Museum
Skopje, 6 October 2021 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski during his official visit to Greece visited Wednesday the Benaki Museum in Athens, where he saw the archive of Constantinos Doxiadis, a celebrated Greek architect also considered one of the world’s leading architects, who had been involved in creating the main urban plan for the reconstruction of Skopje after the devastating 1963 earthquake.
In the museum, President Pendarovski saw old photographs of Skopje, leveled after the earthquake, which were made by Doxiadis.
The museum also displays a certificate of gratitude awarded by the City of Skopje to Constantinos Doxiadis for his contribution to the city’s rebuilding.
The museum visit concludes President Pendarovski’s visit to Greece, hailed as historic for being the first high-level one since the declaration of independence.
