Skopje, 22 November 2024 (MIA) - This event is a proof of the power of cooperation, vision and commitment that our countries have in the enhancement of economic ties, cultural exchange and tourism promotion. This initiative creates opportunities that link our region with the world, and this platform is an example of how tradition and innovations can go hand in hand, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski at the opening of international fair for wine, food, brandy and tourism "Wine Vision by Open Balkan" in Belgrade on Friday.

PM Mickoski said wine, a cultural heritage in this part of Europe, is much more than a product, "it symbolizes our history, land and labor, but also represents a bridge between people, building understanding and friendships".

"I am proud to be here in Belgrade today and promote the achievements of the Macedonian wine industry, which is undoubtedly one of the most developed across the region. Macedonia has more than 28,000 hectares of vines, producing about 100 million liters of wine, of which nearly 70 percent is exported to over 40 countries across the globe. Our vineyards - Tikvesh, Povardarie and Pelagonija - are among the sunniest in Europe with over 270 sunny days a year, which contributes to the quality of the grapes. We are especially proud of our autochthonous brands Vranec and Stanushina, which are increasingly becoming international brands," said Mickoski.

He expressed hope that the event would strengthen the country's wine industry and open new markets for all participants.

"The 'Wine Vision by Open Balkan' fair is not only a place for exhibition and tasting, it is a forum for discussion, education and cooperation that produces long-term results. I am certain that our joint success here will serve as the beginning of even greater accomplishments in the future," said Mickoski.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of networking, while Albanian PM Edi Rama said in his online address that the platform is a good way to merge and promote the best from the participating states.

During his visit to Belgrade, PM Mickoski met with President Vučić and Serbian counterpart Miloš Vučević.

The Macedonian delegation also includes Deputy PM for Political System Ljupcho Dimovski, Deputy PM for Community Relations Ivan Stoiljkovikj, Government Secretary General Igor Janushev, Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Cvetan Tripunovski, Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev, and Kumanovo Mayor Maksim Dimitrievski.

Later today, PM Mickoski and Ambassador to Serbia, Nikola Tupanchevski, are scheduled to address the Macedonian evening within the fair.

The third international fair for wine, food, brandy and tourism "Wine Vision by Open Balkan" in Belgrade, held November 22-24, includes 650 exhibitors from 37 countries. Visitors will also enjoy the presentation of the best restaurants and hotels in Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania, including a set of menus comprised of three dishes combined with wines selected by Serbia's best sommeliers. North Macedonia is represented at the fair by 80 wineries and distilleries, six food producers and a restaurant with three chefs.

The joint stand of the three national tourism organizations takes center stage during the fair, including the tourism offer and cultural heritage of all three Open Balkan countries.
