Skopje, 10 March 2023 (MIA) — In January 2023, compared to January 2022, the number of employees in industry rose by 0.5%, according to latest figures released by the State Statistical Office.

According to the press release, the number of employees in Mining and Quarrying decreased by 3.4%; in Manufacturing it increased by 1.0%; and in Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply it decreased by 3.8% in January 2023 compared to January 2022.

"The number of employees in industry by Main Industrial Groupings in January 2023, in comparison with January 2022, was higher in Capital goods by 12.7%, but lower in Energy by 5.5%, Intermediate goods, except energy by 1.2%, Durable consumer goods by 4.3% and Non-durable consumer goods by 3.8%," the statisticians say. mr/
