Skopje, 16 November 2022 (MIA) - A delegation from North Macedonia, including deputy director of the Agency for Community Rights Realization, Dzelal Hodzic, Vlado Buchkovski, part of the Center for Legal Argumentation and Rhetoric "Ivo Puhan" at the Faculty of Law, Zharko Kamchev and Nenad Zivkovic from the Croatian community in North Macedonia paid a working visit to the European Parliament in Brussels. The delegation held working meetings with Croatian MEP Valter Flego of the Renew Europe group, Slovenian MEP Klemen Grošelj of the Renew Europe group, Bulgarian MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk of the Renew Europe group, with Croatian MEP Tonino Picula of Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, Croatian MEP Karlo Ressler of the group of the European People's Party, Agency for Community Rights Realization said in a press release. The delegation from North Macedonia, as stated, requested support from the MEPs for the minority communities and their project activities in North Macedonia and the Western Balkans. Support has been requested for speeding up North Macedonia’s EU path. The MEPs were told that the successful Macedonian model can serve as an example in overcoming the challenges of other countries from the Western Balkans on the path to European and Euro-Atlantic integration. “The accession of North Macedonia to the EU is of great importance for the minority communities. They are always interested in more democracy, freedom and European values,” deputy director of the Agency for Community Rights Realization and leader of Party of Democratic Action of Macedonia, Dzelal Hodzic said. “I believe in the announcements that the Republic of North Macedonia will join the EU by 2030. The international community has completed its part of the obligation by unblocking the European road, now it depends on us and reaching a consensus on the Constitutional amendments in our country,” said Vlado Buchkovski, a professor at the law faculty of Skopje-based Ss. Cyril and Methodius University. The communities of Croats, Bulgarians, Egyptians, Torbesi, Montenegrins and Jews in our country expect, as it is stated, to be included in the preamble in the Constitution of North Macedonia.
