Nikolovski-Mackey: Plan on fight against corruption – foundation for increased transparency and rule of law
Skopje, 17 November 2021 (MIA) – Deputy PM for the fight against corruption and crime, sustainable development and human resources, Ljupcho Nikolovski, met Wednesday in Brussels with James Mackey, Director of Security Policy and Partnerships at the NATO HQ, discussing prior cooperation and North Macedonia’s contribution in the fulfillment of the Alliance missions and goals. Deputy PM Nikolovski explained the need of adopting the Plan on the fight against corruption, with a focus on equipping and digitizing the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the investigative centres in the basic prosecutor’s offices, digitization of processes, the online platform for case tracking, the National Beneficial Ownership Register, the draft-law on origin of property, and proceeding upon citizens’ complaints on suspicious corruption cases. Mackey welcomed the adoption of the Plan and the measures that are being undertaken, saying they represent a good foundation for future Government policies related to increased transparency and rule of law, the Deputy PM’s Office said in a press release.
