Macedonian architect, who designed gov't's original building, dies aged 93
Skopje, 8 August 2022 (MIA) - Architect Petar Mulichkoski, considered one of the great Macedonian architects who designed the government's original building, died. He was 93. "His urbanistic projects, awarded at public calls, included important and various urban contents in various geographical, historical and urban areas. They had been confirming the author's skills in linking existing city matrixes and structures as a continuity in connecting the old and the new," Macedonian Architecture (МАРХ) posted on its website. In addition to designing the government's building, constructed in 1970, Mulichkoski is also the author of the St. Clement of Ohrid National Library in Skopje (1971), Simpo's offices in Serbia's Vranje (1975), The Kavadarci Ossuary Memorial (1974), the building of Stopanska Banka in Skopje (1974), etc. The government building's façade was changed into baroque style without his permission in 2011. As a result of his researches, Mulichkoski published two books - "The Spirit of the Macedonian House" (2000) and "The Spirit of the Macedonian Town" (2002). Born in 1929, Mulichkoski spent his childhood and teenager years in Prilep. He studied architecture in Ljubljana in the 1950s. He taught urbanism at the Faculty of Technical Studies in Skopje since 1959. Photo: Македонска АРХитектура – МАРХ
