Grubi: Gov't could forward French proposal to Parliament even today
Skopje, 7 July 2022 (MIA) - First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi, who also serves as minister for political system, said Thursday it is possible even today the government to forward the French proposal, the bilateral protocol with Bulgaria and other accompanying documents to Parliament. Grubi reiterated that the government will not decide over the French proposal put forward to unblock North Macedonia's EU path, and that it will only forward it to Parliament. "The Parliament is in charge to decide over the proposal and to task the government with what next steps it should take involving the whole package," he told reporters. The Deputy PM said the French proposal doesn't contain the bilateral protocol with Bulgaria, noting that the negotiating framework doesn't encroach in the Macedonian identity, language and cultural uniqueness. "Neither PM Dimitar Kovachevski nor any other government minister would vote in favor of a negotiating framework allowing assimilation and Bulgarization of Macedonians," Grubi stressed.
