Finance Ministry: Stable budget execution in Q1, revenues increase

Skopje, 3 April 2026 (MIA) – The Ministry of Finance said Friday that the budget execution in the first quarter of the year was stable, while revenues showed an upward trend.

“Total revenues in the budget amounted Mden 81.2 billion, representing a 5.7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025. Tax revenues increased by 4.7 percent overall, with the strongest growth seen in corporate profit tax at 23.6 percent and personal income tax at 12.3 percent. VAT refunds increased by 17.3 percent, with a total of Mden 12 billion returned to businesses. At the same time, revenues from import duties rose by 9.1 percent. Growth was also recorded in non-tax revenues, which increased by 16.4 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year,” the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.

Total expenditures amounted to Mden 106.3 billion, representing an 18.4 percent increase compared to the first quarter of last year.

“The growth in capital expenditures is particularly significant, reaching Mden 8.3 billion in the first quarter, which is an increase of 196.5 percent compared to the same period last year, indicating an accelerated pace of implementation of capital investments,” the Ministry of Finance said.
