Bozhinovska and Mucunski attend signing in Washington of US$5 million agreement supporting critical minerals exploration

Skopje, 8 April 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska and Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski attended the signing at the headquarters of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) in Washington of a US$5 million agreement providing financial support for critical minerals exploration in North Macedonia.

The agreement, according to the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, was signed by DFC’s Head of Investments, Conor Coleman, and Nik Jovanovski, Managing Director of Pela Global Limited.

“The financial support represents a concrete step toward developing the potential of critical minerals as an important segment of modern energy and industrial policies. This agreement opens opportunities for further investment, exploration, and technological development in line with global trends aimed at securing alternative sources of critical raw materials,” the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources said in a press release.

The signing was held during the government delegation’s official visit to the United States, as part of which a bilateral meeting was previously held with the leadership of the DFC, which assessed opportunities to promote cooperation and support in concrete projects.

“This step represents an important signal of growing interest in investing in the critical minerals sector in Macedonia and further affirms the strategic cooperation with the United States in energy and resources,” the Ministry said.
