Ohrid, 22 July 2022 (MIA) – World renowned violinist Stefan Milenkovic, alongside the Camerata Novi Sad ensemble, will perform unique piece Carmina Burana at the 62nd Ohrid Summer Festival at the Dolni Saraj stage on Friday evening. At a press conference, Milenkovic said that Carmina Burana is meant for violin and chamber orchestra. “We added pieces that fit into the program, such as Three Preludes by Gershwin with an arrangement for violin and chamber orchestra, Summer by Piazzola because it’s summertime, and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody because it’s a timeless ballad,” Milenkovic said. Carmina Burana is based on records from the 7th century found in a Bavarian monastery. “Carl Orrf wrote Carmina Burana based on that. The texts speak of love, life, the role happiness plays in one’s life. These were small groups that used a few instruments, not 200 people on stage. When I first started talking with Ana Krstajic about condensing this piece, it turned out that its form was closer to the original shape, so the idea turned out to be brilliant,” Milenkovic added. Marko Miletic, artistic director of the Camerata Novi Sad ensemble, believes that the program is excellent to perform at this renowned festival. “I believe we couldn’t do any better for this fantastic festival and this fantastic town, and I hope you all enjoy tonight’s performance,” Miletic said. Natasha Popovic, director of Ohrid Summer Festival, said that the audience will get the chance to see another top-quality project performed by renowned artists, a project brimming with energy, passion, and top-notch interpretation. “Violin virtuoso Stefan Milenkovic was labeled a wunderkind from an early age, and due to his top performances here, at the Ohrid Summer Festival stage, I can easily say that he is a great friend of ours, and an audience favorite,” said Popovic and added that Milenkovic has presented himself to the Macedonian audience, always moving it with his performances, and he has also astounded music lovers worldwide. dk/ik/
