Skopje, 2 November 2022 (MIA) - Tomislav Georgiev, photographer from North Macedonia won the grand prize at the global photo competition organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands entitled “Water=Life”. Out of over 140 entries submitted by photographers worldwide, the jury consisting of professional photographers, photo journalists and Dutch MFA water experts selected Mr. Georgiev’s photo depicting a man cleaning the water weeds and garbage from the bottom of the Crn Drim River in Struga, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands said in a press release. In her statement announcing the winner, Nathalie Olijslager, Programme Director of the UN Water Conference 2023 said "The winner not only helps us understand the challenges around water we face, but also encourages us to take action". With the “Water=Life” photo competition the Netherlands wants to unite the world on one of the many topics of water, striving to find a solution for the global challenges together, reads the press release.
