Skopje to host 12th MakeDox Film Festival
Skopje, 12 August 2021 (MIA) – The 12th edition of MakeDox Festival of Creative Documentary Film will take place on August 19-26 in four venues in Skopje, including Kurshumli An, Youth Cultural Center (MKC), Museum of Contemporary Arts and Museum of Macedonia. This year’s edition is focused on distribution of documentaries with an emphasis on promotion of films in festivals across Europe. The motto of the 2021 festival is “Where do we go now”, announced the festival’s executive director Darko Nabakov. “In the past two years, we had the desire to travel, to move after being stuck in one place. Perhaps, we should use it to questions ourselves what now, how and what to do from now on,” he told Thursday’s news conference. Almost 70 documentaries will be screened at the festival, divided into five competing categories, including the main category, films of up-and-coming filmmakers, short documentaries, student films, and the category where works with ethical ideas are competing. The festival also features out of competition programs, including the country in focus, which this year is Ukraine. There is also children’s and youth program. The jury will be made up of 15 international documentary filmmakers. Also, this year, the festival will bring together 30 guests from abroad. “All films will be projected at in-person screenings after hosting a hybrid festival last year. Masterclasses, workshops and the co-production forum will be held in some kind of hybrid form,” said Nabakov.
