Skopje Summer presents 'Ethno Macedonia 24' Jeunesses Musicales concert

Skopje, 24 July 2024 (MIA) — Members of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia and Jeunesses Musicales International will give an "Ethno Macedonia 24" concert at Suli An as part of Skopje Summer festival on Wednesday evening.

This is their final concert as part of the youth music NGO's "Ethno" camp, an annual folk, world and traditional music program for musicians aged 18 to 30 years.

"The program is implemented in 45 countries around the world and aims to revive and keep alive the global cultural heritage through a series of annual music camps for young people," the Skopje Directorate of Culture and Arts said in a press release.

This year's Ethno Macedonia camp included young musicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, the Netherlands, Estonia, Scotland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, and Sweden.

The camp presented "a diversity of musical traditions through workshops and rehearsals" for participants to "get to know and fall in love with the intricate rhythms of Macedonia," organizers said.

The workshops were led by Macedonian composer and conductor Angel Spiroski and Bosnian clarinetist Lamija Sarić. mr/
