Skopje, 19 December 2024 (MIA) — Kichevo-born painters Blagojche Naumoski and Jehona Ajradini's show of acrylic and mixed media paintings "Urban Transformations" will open at the Macedonian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia at 6 pm.

"Their project focuses on the deconstruction of urban structural elements, highlighting and interpreting the geometric shapes and volumes that define Brutalism," organizers said.

"My works explore the architectural language of Brutalism through an abstract transformation of space, materiality and volume," Naumoski said.

"In doing this, I strive to create a visual language that captures the raw character of Brutalist architecture while highlighting the power of geometry and minimalism in the context of urban landscapes. 

"Brutalism is an aesthetic that is both rigid and dynamic, a paradox of monumental art and humanity," the artist said.

Blagojche Naumoski (b. 1985, Kichevo) has bachelor's and master's degrees in painting from the state university's Faculty of Fine Arts. He is a member of DLUM Association of Artists of Macedonia and teaches at the Faculty of Art and Design at the European University in Skopje, where he is also vice dean. He has had 22 solo exhibitions and taken part in several group exhibitions and art colonies.

Jehona Ajradini (b. 1985, Kichevo) has a bachelor's in printmaking and graphic design and a master's in ethnology and anthropology. She has worked as an art teacher since 2007. Until 2020, she was art director of the Albanian National Ensemble of North Macedonia. She has participated in numerous international exhibitions and projects promoting the country's immovable cultural heritage. mr/
