Skopje, 20 December 2024 (MIA) - It is important that the title 2028 European Capital of Culture restores Skopje’s splendor and identity. Interesting initiatives are already coming in terms of programs, although we lost a year without the help of the City of Skopje, Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov told a press briefing on Friday. 

He added that he is communicating with ambassadors and seeking support from the European Commissions.

"I'm trying, as hard as I can, to maintain a somewhat normal communication with the City and keep that title. There are some initiatives and fears that we could lose the title, and that would be fatal, because in the history of Europe not one particular city has lost that title," Ljutkov noted.

He stressed it is important that the 2028 European Capital of Culture title restores Skopje's splendor and identity.

The Minister announced there would be many programs, cultural and tourism policies, and there are already many interesting program initiatives being submitted. ssh/nn/
