Skopje Summer festival opens with Croatian pianist Zvjezdan Ružić concert

Skopje, 21 June 2024 (MIA) - The 45th edition of the Skopje Summer festival is set to open on Friday with a concert by Croatian pianist and composer Zvjezdan Ružić at the Kurshumli An. Ružić will showcase his project Pianotron, which is a distinctive fusion of concert piano, mellotron, and 6 kick pedals.

Throughout his career, Ružić has worked with numerous musicians including 2Cellos, Harlem Gospel Choir, Josipa Lisac, Massimo Savić, Neli Andreeva, Luko Paljetak.

"In short – Zvjezdan is a one-man orchestra! Although Zvjezdan is an academic jazz pianist, he describes Pianotron as film music, decorated with influences from jazz, classical, pop, rock and ethno music. Zvjezdan has performed all over the world: from America, through Europe, he held two big tours in China, and with 2Cellos he held a big tour in Japan, Australia and New Zealand," the organizers said.

Ružić is a six-time winner of the Croatian Musicians Union Award for Best Jazz Pianist in Croatia and his albums won five prestigious Porin Awards.

"Zvjezdan is an official artist for "Yamaha Pianos", and he arrives in Skopje directly from London, where he currently lives and builds his international career. On his birthday, on World Music Day, Zvjezdan Ružić and his Pianotron will treat the audience in Skopje with an evening to remember," the organizers add.
