Skopje festival promoting spiritual values closes with “Comenius” premiere
Skopje, 26 December (MIA) – The sixth Holy Virgin Mary Omophorion International Festival closes Sunday with a world premiere of “Comenius”, a Czech film dedicated to Czech philosopher, pedagogue and theologian John Amos Comenius. The hybrid festival opened on December 11. The festival is a non-profit project, founded to support and foster cultural and spiritual values in the society, its founder and director Zorica Soloman Kostovska told MIA. The event is funded by the Visegrad Fund, founded by the four Visegrad Group countries – the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. Helmed by Czech diplomat Petr Mareš, the Fund aims to promote the ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe. The embassies of Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania to the country have supported the festival over the years. This year, the festival featured nearly 20 films and TV programs from North Macedonia, Serbia, Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and France “We’re about to record 12,000 viewers. We’ll also launch initiatives that are important, such as to declare the Holy Mother of God the protector of Macedonia,” said Soloman Kostovska announcing that next year the festival will become an international music and spiritual multimedia event and a festival of spiritual art. The festival’s selection of films will have a rerun on January 1-16.
