Open-air screenings of European films in three towns
Skopje, 13 June 2022 (MIA) - For the second time this year, the “European Traveling Cinema Under the Open Sky” will bring new European films at open-air screenings to audiences throughout the country, traveling this time to Valandovo, Kicevo and Stip.
“European Traveling Cinema Under the Open Sky is an annual showcase of new European films acknowledged by critics and loved by European audiences, traveling each year to three different towns throughout the country,” the EU Delegation in Skopje said Monday.
This year, it launches in Valandovo on June 13-14 in front of “Janko Uzunov” Hall, then travels to the scenic Kitino Kale in Kicevo on June 18-19 and concludes in Stip on June 24-25 at the Youth Centre Summer Stage.
The European Traveling Cinema Under the Open Sky this year will showcase 6 European feature films– many of them award-winning films produced over the last years, reflecting the European creativity and diversity and offering something for everyone tastes, and 6 Macedonian short films some of which had also won prizes on various film festivals and were praised by film lovers as well, said the press release.
The screenings, which are free, will start at 20.30 and will be followed by talk sessions with the renowned film critics Vlatko Galevski, Zlatko Gjeleski and Jovana Gjorgjioska, and their guests, experts on the themes treated in the films.
Тhis year’s selection of feature films includes: LOVECUT (Austria), THE SHIFT (Italy, Belgium), MARE (Switzerland, Croatia), HOPE (Norway, Sweden, Denmark), ATLAS (Switzerland, Belgium, Italy) and SPACE BOY (Belgium).
“The selection of films reflects the contemporary themes concerning us all, but especially young people - from teenage lives and relationships influenced by the internet to violent extremism and terrorism, and from women participation in filmmaking to children in science etc,” said the press release.
