Skopje, 18 October 2023 (MIA) — The National Opera and Ballet will perform Cesare Pugni's "Esmeralda" (1844), a ballet inspired by the 1831 novel "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" by Victor Hugo.

National Opera and Ballet dancers will perform, featuring prima ballerina Mimi Pop Aleksova Atanasovska as Esmeralda; Balázs Lőcsei of Hungary as Phoebus; Hristina Nakjevska as Fleur-de-Lys; Marija Josifovska Ristovska as Gudule; Miroslav Mitrasinovikj as Claude Frollo; and Andrew Cook of England as Quasimodo.

The orchestra will be conducted by Bisera Chadlovska. The choreographer is Mikhail Krapivin of Russia.

The set was designed by Zhivojin Trajanovikj. The costumes were designed by Ljupka Ristovska. The concert master is Kliment Todoroski. mr/
