Skopje, 14 June 2023 (MIA) — The Macedonian Writers Association is holding Wednesday its Linden Festival, an annual reading celebrating linden trees in blossom. The event will open by a reading of Mateja Matevski "The Linden Tree," which will be followed by an awards ceremony.

Matevski's poem will be read by last year's winner of the MWA Literary Scepter award for lifetime achievements in poetry, Gordana Mihailova Boshnakovska. This year, the award will go to Vesna Acevska, and the international winner is Montenegro poet Novica Djuric.

Vladimir Martinovski will speak about the poetry of Acevska. The MWA will also host a book launch for its newly released collection of poems by Acevska and Djuric.

At the end of the event, organizers will present the Linden Festival 2023 prizes for best poem on the subject of linden trees (to Slavica Dabevska Kirovska), short story related to linden trees (to Mihajlo Sviderski) and essay on linden trees (to Trajche Kacarov). mr/
