Skopje, 18 May 2024 (MIA) - Culture Minister Bisera Kostadinovska Stojchevska congratulated Saturday International Museum Day to all museum workers, who she refers to as "mirror of the past and our cultural heritage".

"On this International Museum Day, we stress their protective role for history, culture and Macedonian identity. Museums are an inspiration for creativity, research and critique, unique sites for interpretation of art, archeology and science. Let me highlight the museum workers' commitment in protecting the sector and contribution in educating young generations to cope with complex societal challenges," says Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.

"Museums for Education and Research" is the slogan of the International Museum Day observances, a day when museums across the country open their doors free of charge for visitors.

Since 1977, International Museum Day has highlighted a specific theme which changes every year reflecting a relevant theme or issue facing museums internationally, coordinated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
