Minimum wage to rise by at least 10 percent at beginning of 2024, says Economy Minister

Skopje, 21 September 2023 (MIA) – The minimum wage is set to rise by at least 10 percent at the beginning of 2024, said Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi on Thursday.
According to Bekteshi, inflation in terms of food prices is expected to be around 5-6 percent, while the general inflation is expected to be somewhere between 7 and 8 percent.
“Based on all the data, and the methodology for wage increases determined by the Government, at the beginning of next year, the minimum wage is expected to rise by at least 10 percent, followed by a 14 percent increase in the average wage. Inflation should be around 5-6 percent in terms of food prices, while general inflation is expected to be somewhere between 7 and 8 percent. In this way, the rising wages are exceeding the rise in inflation, beginning from July 2023,” said Bekteshi.
The Minister pointed to the latest press release from the State Statistical Office, which states the average wage has risen by 14.1 percent compared to July last year.
